"In a statement Monday to The Colorado Sun, Killin's campaign said she supports a moratorium in El Paso County to stop Project Taurus, a data center planned in Colorado Springs."

"Killin believes that the federal government shouldn't be involved in artificial intelligence and data centers. She said data centers shouldn't receive tax subsidies, credits, or incentives... She also said data centers are needed by the military and policies should be in place to ensure they are built on military installations. On the local level, Killin said communities should have control over where and when data centers are built and management over the usage of their power and water."

"Water here in the West is gold essentially... And I know that most of these data centers, including private [ones], have said they're operating on a closed loop. Killin believes data centers should be regulated at the state level in order to pay for their fair share of energy consumption. Citizens, members of communities should not be forced to have their energy costs go up because a data center is in town... But we shouldn't at the federal level be providing extra tax incentives for data centers, and we should put basic guardrails around AI."
