Position on Hyperscale Data Centers

Rep. Andy Barr, running for U.S. Senate in Kentucky, is a vocal proponent of accelerating domestic AI data center infrastructure and expanding baseload coal and natural gas generation to power hyperscale computing. Barr has framed AI data center expansion as a critical national security competition with China and criticized Democratic regulatory restrictions and Governor Andy Beshear's August 2026 executive order restricting data center permits.

Verified Quotes & Evidence

"Winning the AI race against the Chinese Communist Party requires massive data center capacity and reliable, affordable baseload power—which means unleashing Kentucky coal and natural gas rather than strangling investment with red tape."
